The Delta State police command on Tuesday said it has renewed war against men of underworld with the arrest of 16 kidnappers, 6 robbery suspects and rescued four kidnap victims.
Police commissioner in the state, Alkali Baba Usman, at a news briefing in Asaba, said the kidnap and robbery suspects were arrested in Sapele, Warri, Out-jeremi, Asaba and Agbor among other towns in the state.
He disclosed that 18 more persons were arrested over the attack of the shopping mall after one suspect was arrested on the day of the incident.
According to the police boss, “After the attack of the shopping mall, the hoodlums went into town causing breach of peace, following which 18 suspects were arrested.”
He said that preliminary investigation showed that the suspended council chairman, one Henry Baro, allegedly hired the suspects and in conspiracy with one Napoleon Odibu, went on the mischievous attack on the shopping mall.
The police commissioner further disclosed that four kidnap suspects were rescued by the police during a routine patrol, while guns and ammunition were recovered.
