10 best Nollywood actresses of 2015
It's that time of the year when we get to look at some of the actors who did well in the last twelve months.
Who
is your best female actor for the year 2015? A lot of factors determine
an actor’s value - box office numbers (which is almost inaccessible in
Nigeria), social media buzz (positive), award nominations and win, and
of course, critical respect.
In no particular order, here we go
1. Omoni Oboli
By
every measure, the actress deserves a top spot on the list. In 2015,
she has featured in two box office movies - the much anticipated "Fifty," and her second directorial movie “The First lady,” which is currently the highest grossing Nollywood movie in cinema, a position previously held by AY Makun’s “30 Days in Atlanta.”
The actress also went on to prove her skills in the comedy as Michelle, delivering a character worth watching over and over in the cinemas.
2. Kehinde Bankole
3. Yvonne Nelson
Fans have seen the Ghanaian actress interpret different roles, but in 2015, she decided to take a different path in the movie “If Tomorrow Never Comes.”
The actress brought her A-Game in the emotional gripping film, bringing the character Ewurabena to life in a performance worthy of an AMVCA nomination.
4. Ijeoma Grace Agu
Ijeoma won our hearts with her incredible interpretation of the character, and has us asking for more of her movies.
5. Yvonne Jegede
6. Linda Ejiofor
The actress who won the "Best Supporting Actress" award at the 2015 AMVCAs, also featured in two hit cinema movies this year – “A Soldier’s Story” and “Out of Luck” in which she delivered a performance outside her famous characters - "Tinsel's 'Bimpe," and "The Meeting's 'Ejura.'.
She has also continued to thrill TV lovers as Bimpe in the hit series "Tinsel," and it's impossible to think she won't keep getting better at what she does.
7. Genevieve Nnaji
Her
presence on the big screen hasn't been felt much in the past few years,
but the actress made a comeback in the much talked about movie “Road to Yesterday,” which also served as her debut production.
8. Stephanie Okereke Linus
Apart
from doing well in cinemas, her performance was well received by
critics, who were charmed by her acting and directorial skills.
9. Bayray McNwizu
She
delivered a character that has been well accepted by critics. Her
performance in the cinematic film revealed a talent which most movie
lovers were unaware of.
9. Ireti Doyle
After giving extraordinary performances in the past years, Doyle yet again exhibited her talent in “Fifty”, a Biyi Bandele movie.
Watching Ireti interpret the role perfectly would make you wonder who else could have done It better.
10. Mercy Johnson
It's no news how perfect Mercy Johnson can be on screen, and she didn't fail n the 2015 Obi Emelonye film "Thy Will be Done."
She
did a superb job, delivering a relatable character effortlessly, while
reminding viewers why she's considered one of the best in the movie
industry.
