Police, Hoodlums In Shootout, 1 Policeman, 1 Civilian Wounded, 155 Arrested

Men of the task force of the Lagos State police command engaged some hoodlums in a shootout in Iddo area of the metropolis, yesterday, which left one cop and a civilian injured.
The policemen raided 155 people in the area said to be occupied by mostly miscreants who engaged in various nefarious activities.
The policemen were said to have arrived the area around midnight of Wednesday and continued the raiding till 2am of yesterday.
Lagos State police public relations officer, SP Ifedolapo Badmos, who confirmed the story during an interactive session with crime reporters, at the journalists’ press centre beside her Ododuwa Street, Ikeja office, said attention was drawn to the  police command by the state government that the area should be cleared of miscreants who engage in illegal activities.
Badmos said the operation lasted till 2am, explaining that immediately the policemen arrived the scene, the hoodlums opened fire on them, injuring a policeman for whom she prayed that God should heal.
The police spokesperson said during the shootout, one civilian and a cop were wounded and they were both rushed to the general hospital.
She said as the police and hoodlums exchanged gunfire, a truck driver wanted to leave the scene swiftly, unknown to him someone was sleeping under the vehicle. The man was crushed to death at the scene of operation.
