Chevron Nigeria Limited
Female students dominated the list of winners at the annual Chris Ikomi
essay competition for schools in Delta State organised by Chevron
Nigeria Limited, with only one male student among the six winners out of
over 4,500 participants.
Chevron unveiled three winners each in the junior and senior secondary
categories at the 15th edition of Chris Ikomi Memorial Essay Competition
Award Ceremony held in Asaba.
Miss Christabel Ogbeide, an Edo State-born orphan and SS3 student of
Kudos Model School Orhuwhorun in Udu Local Government Area of the state,
won the first prize.
Miss Emitiri Oghenerunor of Challenge Academy, also in Orhuwhorun, took
the second spot while Miss Ojadovba Emuobonuvie of Our Lady of Nigeria
Secondary School Oghara in Ethiope West Local Government Area won the
third prize.
In the junior category, Miss Bella Izibili of Springfield School,
Sapele, won the top spot. Master Idris Taofeeq of Jenny Secondary
School, Ekete in Orhuwhorun and the only male student among the winners,
won the second prize while the third prize went to Miss Esiehor Ogbene
of Challenge Academy, Orhuwhorun.
The six winners, who received trophies and various gifts from Chevron,
emerged from the 450 students shortlisted for the state finals held in
the state capital, out of the pool of 4,550 students across the state
who entered for the annual competition.
