Creepiest place on earth? Eeire island of dolls holds a VERY dark secret

Thousands of spooky plastic dolls hang from the trees on this creepy island in Mexico. The eerie toys were placed on the Isla de las Munecas to absorb the tormented screams of a little girl who drowned there.
But it is believed that her troubled ghost still haunts the dark woods and visitors say they hear whispers in the night and feel the dolls' eyes following them through the trees.

Hit número uno of my bucket list yesterday, I went to Isla de las Muñecas (Doll Island). This island was the home to a man named Don Julian. His daughter drowned in the canals whilst playing with her doll (muñecas), and he could hear her crying for her dolls after she passed. He hung dolls everywhere he could to appease her sad spirit. He would grow vegetables and take them into Xochimilco to exchange for dolls. Hundreds of tourists flood to the haunted destination every year, but it was never meant to be an attraction.
The nightmare-inducing dolls – which are dirty and decaying from the damp forest – were put there by a reclusive Mexican man named Julian Santana Barrera.
He retreated into the woods soon after the little girl drowned there and claimed he could hear her tormented screams and footsteps in the darkness.

The girl, who died over 50 years ago, was found floating in the canal with her doll. Julian blamed himself for not being able to rescue her and hung the toy in a tree as a sign of respect.
But he began to hear whispers, footsteps and the anguished wails despite being miles from civilisation deep in the woods of Xochimilco.

In a desperate attempt to stop the noises he continued to hang dolls around the forest to please her spirit.
The result is an eerie collection of partially disembodied dolls, with glassy eyes and dirty faces.

And now – 14 years after Julian's own mysterious death in those woods – the scary tribute remains untouched.
Reports suggest the dead girl may never have even existed, that she was a tale made up by Julian after years of isolation in the woods.
However, photographers and tourists still flock to the site, which is a two-hour canal ride from Mexico City.
And despite it's daunting appearance, locals describe the area as "charmed" instead of haunted. But travellers still claim that they can hear the dolls whispering as they walk through the wooded trail.
