At least three people have reportedly been killed and many more are injured after an explosion in a tourist area of Cairo.
The blast apparently took place in al-Haram street, which is in the Giza district of the city - close to the Pyramids.
It is currently unclear what the cause of the explosion is - but initial fears are of a possible terrorist attack.
There were no immediate details on the identities of the
dead.
Islamist militants have stepped up attacks on Egyptian soldiers and police since the army toppled president Mohammed Mursi of the Muslim Brotherhood in 2013 after mass protests against his rule.
Civilians have also been killed.
It comes after separate rain on Thursday at a hotel in Cairo, near the Pyramids, but no one was injured.
Egypt has been battling an insurgency based in the northern Sinai peninsula that grew following the 2013 military overthrow of Islamist president Mohammed Morsi.
