ICYMI Sunderland have completed the controversial signing of Newcastle legend Steve Harper.
The veteran goalkeeper spent 20 seasons at St. James’ Park before joining Hull on a free transfer in 2013.
Most of his tenure was spent as back-up to No.1’s Shay Given and Tim Krul but he remained a popular figure among the Toon faithful.
Harper has now moved to Sunderland on a short-term deal until the end of the season though and immediately deleted his Twitter account, amid abuse fromNewcastle fans.
“It’s been a bit of a whirlwind, how it all happened,” explained Harper.
Liverpool have offered £24.5million to Shakhtar Donetsk for Teixeira and the Ukraine side are understood to want £38million for the Brazilian attacker.

“I have nothing to say about this,” said the Reds boss. “We could talk about a lot of players in the world and I could, if we had time for this, talk about the qualities they have.”

Brooking, a former FA head of development, does not think Roberts’ playing time is sufficient for a player he believed can help England win the European Championships in four years.
“Patrick has the potential to be a special player and an England regular,” he told The Sun.
“He’s part of a very talented crop of youngsters we have who could win Euro 2020. But he needs to play in order to develop — and that is not happening.
“He’s only had a few run outs as a sub, one in the league and two in the Capital One Cup. That’s not enough.”
Like that event that happens in December, we spend months building up to it and it’s over within a shot.
The madness is really starting to kick off now after a slow couple of weeks – and hopefully there will be more to come.
